Ceramics and sculpture, shown in garden light.

Stepping through the green-framed doors of the East Gallery you find pottery, sculpture and craftwork arranged with care against deep, considered walls.

The East is the smallest of the three rooms and the most intimate — a place for collectible ceramics, small bronzes and finely made objects. Triangular wall pieces and a draped central table anchor the room, with the surrounding indigenous garden visible just beyond.

It is also the natural home of our textile programme — the current Fabric, Fibre & Threads exhibition spills from here into the surrounding spaces, with quilts, felt, embroidery and printed cloth from a circle of established South African makers.

Fabric, Fibre & Threads — contemporary textile works by Danél Muller, Elaine Louw, Jenny Hearn, Lein Smuts, Marietjie Nel, Marlene Toerien, Sandra Lemmer and Tilly de Harde.
